1) Wipe off all dust and dirt with a dry cloth or soft brush. A small, soft brush can help get dirt out of tooling and tight areas.

2) You can clean it with a solution of distilled water or a mild non-detergent soap (leather soap is recommended). Dilute the soap/liquid at least 1:10 (it should not be sudsy), and allow to fully dry before conditioning. Note: Do not saturate the leather when cleaning (this will remove the dye or darken the leather), use a damp cloth to clean the guitar strap. The idea here is to just slightly dampen it enough to clean. Make sure any hardware is dry and free of moisture.

3) Make sure you get all of the soap residue (if soap is used) off with a damp cloth.

4) Let dry completely.

5) Apply leather conditioner to the outside of the guitar strap only (the inside is a natural suede). Rub a coat of conditioning treatment into your product lightly using a clean dry rag. Even if it has been a while, use a light coat. Heavy coats of oil (if used) can encourage mildew growth, so you want to apply lightly and buff dry, several times if necessary. Putting too much conditioner (as well as cleaning or exposing the product to too much water) may remove the dye and darken the leather.

6) Let dry completely. Buff after to polish with soft wool or cotton.

You may also choose to re-apply the water protect-ant as well. Again, if you choose to do this – apply a thin even coating and do not saturate.

Keep your leather out of direct heat. If the leather starts to get dry, it is time to condition it. As with any leather product, exposure to water can cause damage. Try to keep the product as dry as possible. All products have been treated to protect them from normal everyday use. However, if the product were to get soaked; spotting or loss of dye may occur (as stated above). If this were to happen, remove the product, and allow it to fully dry. Condition it once it is dry. Routine maintenance such as applying leather conditioner will prevent the leather from cracking and extend the life of the product.

Also, keep in mind not to store it a sealed plastic bag – store the in a place where it can breathe, but where it is not in direct sunlight/heat (this will prevent mold from growing).
